Logan students compete in county spelling bee
The Phillips County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, January 30, at Thunder Ridge Middle School. Thirty spellers from Logan, Phillipsburg, and Thunder Ridge competed in the bee. Logan was represented by 4th graders Taden Gottschalk, Emma Traxler, and Brayton Woods; 5th graders Case Ashmore and Austin Leanna; 6th graders Kendra Alexander, Ryan Prewo, and Tye West; 7th grader Grayci White; 8th grader Kylee Uhland. At the beginning of round four only five spellers remained. Three spellers were eliminated in this round, including Austin. The bee went two more rounds before Hallie Jerby was crowned champion and Lili Joyce was runner-up. There was then a spell-off for third place. Austin was the only speller to spell his word correctly so he was awarded 3rd place. Congratulations to Austin and to all of the Logan spellers!
