Beef it up program
“The Beef it Up’’ program has been successful in the Logan Schools. In an effort to cut expenses, Logan USD 326 introduced a new program in January entitled “Beef it Up,” in which generous ranchers/farmers donate an animal (beef or pork) to USD 326 (via Kensington Lockers) to provide for the district’s needs.
With the money saved from the donated meat, the cooks have introduced a variety of new foods including fajitas and bierocks as well as fresh fruit on the salad bar. Students have also indicated that meals taste better.
“Ever since we started the ‘Beef it Up’ program, the lunches seem more filling. All of us are a lot happier and not complaining,” said sophomore Elsie Prather.
The rancher/farmers win, too, as they receive tax credit documentation, a year’s free admission to USD 326 events, and recognition on athletic programs and banners.
The students are grateful for the generous donations from local families who have supported the school with these donations.
