Senior basketball players recognized during last home games of the season
The Logan-Palco Trojans held their final regular season game on Tuesday, Feb 22 in Logan against Decatur Community. The JV teams split with the girls losing in a 3-quarter game, and the boys winning in two quarters. In the varsity girls contest, the scoring started slow as neither team's shots were falling. The Trojans were down by 3 at halftime with a 16-19 score. A cold-shooting third quarter left the Lady Trojans with only 2 points, allowing the Red Devils to score enough to give them a comfortable lead. The Trojans fought back in the 4th, but ended short with a final score of 34-43. Senior Rylee Delimont led the team in points and rebounds with 14 and 7 respectively. Senior Abby Graham added 8 points, and junior Madi Brackney scored 7.
In the boys action, the Trojans came out strong from the beginning of the game. A huge dunk by senior Kylor Hogan in the first quarter brought the crowd to its feet and gave the Trojans extra motivation for their final home game of the season. Up by 11 at half, the Trojans extended their lead in the second half and won handily 73-31. Senior Ty Kats scored 22 for the Trojans with senior Dylan Van Laeys close behind with a whopping 21 points and 21 boards. Freshman Rhett Kats added 11 points, and senior Kylor Hogan scored 9 points with 5 steals.
