Trojans open basketball season at home

The Logan Trojan high school basketball teams opened the 2017-18 season by hosting the Western Plains/Healy Bobcats on Friday, Dec. 1.  With both junior varsity games being shortened, the Lady Trojans prevailed 14-10 and the Trojan boys established a commanding lead in the two quarters as they won 34-10.

The varsity girls got out to an early lead and then played deep into the bench, as all ten of the girls saw substantial court time and eight of the ten scored.  The court time for all was valuable and resulted in a 44-8 victory for Logan.  For the first game of the year, the Lady Trojans shot a respectable 44%.  They were led by senior Ryann Kats with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Sophomore Kelcee Braun had 5 steals, 5 rebounds and 8 points.

The last game of the night was the varsity boys contest, and the Logan Trojans earned their first win of the season with a 52-19 score.  All ten of the Trojans players were able to see the court in the game and four of them contributed with double digit scoring.  Seniors in double digits were Riley Allen with 12 points and 12 rebounds, Lane Stapleton had 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Colton Greving had 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Junior Michael Daniels contributed 10 points and a dozen rebounds.

Next week the Trojans hit the road as they will be playing in Brewster on December 4, 8, and 9 in the Sagebrush Shootout.
