High School Basketball play some amazing games
This week the Logan/Palco Trojan high school basketball teams had a weird week with
back to back games on Thursday and Friday. Games on Jan. 14 saw the Trojans on the home
court in Palco against the Plainville Cardinals. With the Cardinal girls short on players due to
injuries, no girls JV game was played. The boys however were able to get in some extra
quarters. In a two quarter “C” game, the Trojans came out on top 16-15, however the JV
Cardinal team put up 53 points to the Trojans 21. In the first varsity game of the night the Lady
Trojans came out very strong in the first quarter with a 17-5 lead. From there on, the Trojans
were in an offensive slump of sorts, which resulted in Plainville outscoring the Trojans by 15
points. Logan/Palco suffered a disappointing 34-37 loss. The Lady Trojans were led by Khloee
Braun with 10 points and Rylee Delimont with 8 points and 5 rebounds. In the boys contest
there was quick, strong guard play by both teams creating a fast paced game. Logan/Palco
captured the 71-65 win. The Trojans were led by Dylan Van Laeys with 25 points, 14 rebounds
and 4 assists, Ty Kats had 14 points and 5 rebounds and Ian Sparks had 14 points, and 2 assists.
On Friday, Jan. 15 the Trojans traveled to Rexford to battle with the Golden Plains
Bulldogs. In the girls 2 quarter JV game Logan/Palco took a 7-29 loss, but the boys put together
a 43-19 win in four full quarters. The state ranked Lady Bulldogs were more than the Trojans
could handle in the varsity matchup and it culminated with a 9-51 Trojan loss. Struggling to find
the basket, left the high point output at only four points which was scored by junior Kirsten
Marcotte. Senior Khloee Braun had 5 rebounds and 1 assist. The Trojans boys were able to
turn the momentum around and grabbed a 59-32 victory. Logan/Palco had six players
contributing to the 30 points that were from behind the 3 point arc. Leading the way on Friday
were juniors Dyaln Van Laeys and Connor Knipp. Van Laeys had 14 points and 11 boards while
Knipp poured in 10 points with 6 rebounds.
Next action will be on Tuesday, Jan. 18 in Palco against league opponent Western
Plains/Healy.
