Josh Van Laeys leads East Team in 8-Man All-Star win
On Saturday, June 10 the 32nd Annual 8-Man All-Star football games were played in Beloit, Kansas at Beloit High Trojan Stadium. During the morning of June 6, there were 40 Division I All-Stars and 40 Division II All-Stars who reported for five days of football and fun on the campus at NCK Technical College in Beloit. 2017 Logan High School graduate, Josh Van Laeys, had the honor and privilege to be chosen to participate in this event. Despite the geographical location of Logan, with Logan-Palco football being in a district that extended so far east, Josh was one of the 20 members of the east squad. In the Division I game, the East defeated the West by a score of 28-18. In the contest, Van Laeys was the quarterback for the East squad and throwing the ball, he was 7 for 13 with 111 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Carrying the ball, he had one touchdown and went 30 yards in 10 carries.
Prior to the Division I game, the Division II game was played and the East team prevailed in that matchup as well. With 22 seconds left in the game the East scored to tie the game at 20. They then went on to win 28-20 in the overtime.
The week provided memories and friendships that will last a lifetime ,and the despite the hot weather, the very competitive good football had fans well entertained.
