Logan teams end seasons at Sub-state

The Logan basketball teams traveled to Rexford for Round 2 of the Sub-State competition.

On Thursday, the girls were matched with St. Francis.  The Lady Trojans struggled to get their shots to fall, but were only down 6 at halftime.  The Indians came out of the locker room ready to shoot, and extended their lead by 16 points as they put up a big 19 points in the quarter.  The Indians held on to their lead and finished the game 28-43 over the Trojans.  Junior Abigail Graham led the way with 8 points and 13 rebounds, followed by junior Kirsten Marcotte with 7 points.  Senior Khloee Braun finished her last high school basketball game with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

On Friday, the #3 seeded boys headed into tough competition.  With 5 of the 6 teams in their Sub-State being state-ranked during the season, they knew it would be a tough journey.  The Trojans faced #2 seeded Cheylin, losing to them just two weeks prior.  The Trojans started out slow losing the first quarter 8-14, but made their way back into the game with a tie score at half.  The 3rd quarter was just the reverse of the 1st with a score of 14-8, and then a huge 25-point 4th quarter stretched the Trojan lead.  Junior Josh Uhland was 5 for 6 from the charity stripe in the last minutes of the game and ended with 13 points.  Junior Ty Kats followed with 12.

The Trojan win paired them with their Northern Valley rivals for the championship game.  Each with one win over the other during the regular season, both teams knew what they had to do.  In a physical game, both teams scored 11 points in the first quarter, but the Trojans struggled with their shots.  The Huskies capitalized and took the lead.  The Trojans couldn't recover and lost the game 48-64.  Junior Dylan Van Laeys tallied 17 points and 13 rebounds with junior Jadin Newell adding 16 points and junior Kylor Hogan adding 8 boards.
