Trojans play back-to-back basketball games
With ball games canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 25, the Trojans played back to back nights on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, they met up with Triplains-Brewster in Palco. The JV girls and boys both earned wins over the Titans in shortened games. Senior Rylee Delimont dominated the scoreboard for the varsity girls as they won 45-31. Rylee put up a season high of 20 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists. Senior Abby Graham added 10 points of her own. On the boys side, the Trojans rolled over the Titans 70-49 with 3 seniors in double-digits. Dylan Van Laeys led with a whopping 22 points and 22 boards, followed by Ty Kats with 16 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals, and Kylor Hogan with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
With a short turnaround, the Trojans were back at it on Saturday as they traveled to Atwood. Rawlins County was too much for the Trojans to handle as they lost the first three games. The JV girls lost 19-32, and the boys lost a close one 16-19 in a 2-quarter game. In varsity action, the Lady Trojans were only down by 3 after the first quarter and 7 at halftime, but came out cold in the third quarter only scoring 5 points. The Buffalos took full advantage and ended the game with a 57-22 win. The varsity boys came out with an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead by 20 at the final buzzer with a score of 68-48. On the scoreboard, senior Dylan Van Laeys had another 20-20 night putting up 27 points and pulling down 21 rebounds. Seniors Josh Uhland followed with 11 points and Jadin Newell with 9.
The Trojans will participate in the WKLL League Tournament next week beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 2 in Colby. The #4 seeded Lady Trojans will play Heartland Christian at 3:00, and the #3 seeded boys will play Golden Plains at 7:30.
