HS Trojan weekly recap

On Thursday, Jan. 23 Logan/Palco traveled to Plainville for high school basketball.  It was a successful night for the Trojans as they came home with three wins in the four games.  The girls junior varsity team lost 6-25 in a short game.  The Logan/Palco JV boys won an exciting 52-49 game.  With the help of 17 points from the line (68%) the Lady Trojans gained a 47-38 victory.  There were three girls who snuck into double digit scoring to lead scorers.  They were Mara Kats with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Rylee Delimont and Cydnee Rider with 10 points each. The Logan/Palco Trojans had a hole to dig out of after being on the short side of a 7-20 first quarter. Clawing back into the game during the 2nd & 4th quarters put them in the situation where they had a chance in the game. With a Ty Kats steal and layup the Trojans took the lead for the first time with 22 seconds left in the game.  The Trojans held on for the last seconds to secure the 48-47 win. The Trojans were led by Dylan Van Laeys with 23 points and 18 rebounds and Rhett Kats with 11 points.

In a quick turnaround the Trojans hosted Golden Plains on Friday, Jan. 24.  The Lady Bulldogs were able to build on their successful season as they gained wins in both the JV and varsity games.  Against the brutal full court pressure of the Bulldogs, the Lady Trojans fell by a score of 18-51.  Cydnee Rider led the Trojans with 6 points, 7 rebounds and one assist.  The tide turned during the boys games, as the Trojans were able to gain wins in both the JV and varsity games. The Trojans got a 73-31 victory.  They were led by Dylan Van Laeys with 23 points and 13 boards, Kylor Hogan with 14 points and 3 assists and Ty Kats who finished with 10 points and 5 steals.  Next action for Logan/Palco will be on Jan. 18  in Healy.
