Girls have a good night in Plainville
On Tuesday, January 26 the Logan Trojans traveled to Plainville to face the Cardinals. The JV girls played only played 2 quarters, but they were long. The Trojans trailed throughout the game be a few points, but towards the end of the game, the momentum swung the other way. Down by 4 points with 2 min on the clock, the Trojans battled back. Buckets by sophomore Lexi Hilburn and junior Tristen McClurg tied the game with seconds to go. A last-second foul by the Cardinals sent Tristen McClurg to the line for two shots. She made both and the Trojans won by 20-18.
In the varsity game, a slow start for both teams yielded a 5-6 score at the end of the first-quarter. The Lady Trojans stepped up their full-court pressure in the second quarter, and the Cardinals were not able to respond. At the end of the first half, Logan lead 21-12. Their 2nd quarter efforts were sparked by a three pointer and then a taken charge by freshman Brianna Pinkerton. Aggressive defense and shooting a solid 39% from the field for the game allowed the Lady Trojans to extend their lead in the second half and finish with a 48-28 victory over Plainville. Logan was led by senior Christen Greving with 11 points, junior Karlee Braun with 11 points, and sophomore Ryann Kats pulled down 10 rebounds in the matchup.
