Logan ladies open season with 2 wins
The Logan Lady Trojans traveled to Rexford on Tuesday, Aug. 30 for their season opener against Triplains/Brewster and Golden Plains.
Against Triplains/Brewster, the girls worked through their first-game jitters and pulled out the win in 2 sets 25-19 and 25-11.
"It was certainly evident that it was the first match of the year for us. Our nerves were showing, but we were able to keep them in control enough to pull out the win. We served very well as a team, and we are always glad to get the first win," said head coach Robin Van Laeys.
The Trojans took on the Bulldogs from Golden Plains in the second game. While they won the first set 25-13, the second set proved more difficult and kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. With the score tied several times at the end, Logan finally pulled two points ahead and won 31-29.
"This was a great first day out for out squad. We were able to get some offense going at the end of the first set. It was good to see our girls reach back and hit with confidence. Any time you can show the composure and grit to win a 31-29 set, there is a lot of growth and learning going on. I was very pleased with the confidence I saw from the girls during the match," said Coach Van Laeys.
