Logan FFA Chapter attends 89th Annual Kansas State Convention
Nine members of the Logan FFA Chapter took a trip to the 89th Annual Kansas FFA Convention in Manhattan, KS on May 30-June 2. Those attending were Bessie Gaines, Ryann Kats, Mollie Sammons, Madison Gottstine, Melissa Leiker, Toni Jenner, Camryn Greving, Matthew Kirkendall, Nate Cruz and advisor Janet Gottstine. Tony Jenner and Madison Gottstine participated and performed in the State FFA band.
The theme this year for the 2017 Kansas State Convention was “Transform.” Everyday the group had the privilege to listen to several motivational speakers that helped motivate them to better themselves. Many awards were given throughout the convention, and the Logan Chapter was honored to receive second place for their scrapbook.
Camryn Greving represented the NW district in the creed speaking contest. Camryn recited the creed in front of a panel of judges. She received 6th place at the Kansas State Creed Speaking LDE.
The Logan FFA Chapter volunteered to serve on the Courtesy Corps three different times throughout the week, and Bessie and Melissa were the Logan delegates who met and voted on the new state officers.
The Chapter also attended the Feed the Funnel event where the members had the opportunity to make food packages for the hungry across Kansas. They took back 66 pounds of food that they packaged and will take to the food pantry to help those in need in our county.
It was a great week of celebrating the work and achievements of Kansas FFA members around the state of Kansas.
