Scholars' Bowl is on to State!
On Thursday, February 4, the Logan Scholars’ Bowl attended the 1A Div 2 Regional meet at Natoma, starting at 3:00. This was scheduled to be a 10 team round-robin tournament with the top 3 teams going to State. In the first round, Logan had a bye as Palco withdrew in the morning. In Rounds 2 and 3, Logan beat Cheylin 75-20 and Golden Plains 30-20. The Trojans came up short in Round 4 as faced Sylvan-Lucas and lost 30-55.
With four questions left and trailing 5-30 behind Wilson, Logan correctly answered 3 questions and pulled out the victory 35-30 in Round 5. Logan lost their second match of the day to Natoma 25-40. The seventh round put Logan against Northern Valley. After the match was tied at the end of regulation, a tiebreaker was needed. Logan correctly answered the question and won 40-30. The eighth round put the Trojans against Tipton. Logan prevailed by a score of 50-15. The last round put Logan against Wheatland-Grinnell. Again, with the score knotted at 40-40 at the end of regulation, Logan prevailed in the tiebreaker question winning 50-40.
Natoma won the Regional with a record of 9-0. Logan and Wilson both had a record 7-2, a head-to-head was used as a tiebreaker. Since Logan beat Wilson 35-30, Logan was crowned the Runner-Up. This is the first time the Logan Scholars’ Bowl has been to State since 2002. State will be Saturday, February 13 at Wilson High School. The introductions are at 11:45 a.m. and first round begins at noon.
